Geothermal Engineering Research Office Malta is a non-profit organisation founded in April 2007. The word geothermal comes from the Greek words geo (earth) and therme (heat). So, geothermal energy is heat from within the Earth. The recovery of this heat as steam or hot water can be used to heat buildings or generate electricity, thus being a very positive alternative energy source.
